Bjorn Lomborg: Energy, climate, and the fight for a better world

There is not one single climate activist in sight here at the climate summit venue in Le Bourget on the outskirts of Paris. Understandably, the area is effectively sealed off so there’s not much of an audience.

While many planned marches have been cancelled for security reasons, there are still many protestors in the media and elsewhere, who are passionately pushing those inside the climate talks to push for a more drastic treaty.

As COP 26 wrapped up, Bjorn Lomborg joined Alex Epstein to discuss the many examples of bad thinking that have shaped the conference, including:

- The false portrayal of today’s world as bad and getting worse.

- The failure to consider the costs of reducing CO2 emissions. - The failure to discuss the benefits human beings get from fossil fuels.

- The failure to consider any positive of CO2 emissions.

- The failure to appreciate the power of adapting to climate changes.

At the recently concluded UN climate summit, wealthy nations agreed to pay climate reparations to poor countries. Unfortunately, this could ultimately be a bad deal even for the recipients, if the West expects developing nations to forego fossil fuels that would help them to develop and get more resilient towards natural disasters.
