Climate change

Los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) son una idea fenomenal. Son lo que sucedió cuando la Organización de las Naciones Unidas se reunió y dijo: “estos son los mayores problemas del mundo, y así es como vamos a medir los avances logrados al respecto”. Los 17 objetivos incluyen promesas de acabar con la pobreza extrema y el hambre, solucionar el cambio climático y la educación, y reducir la desigualdad y la corrupción.

While the challenge of climate change is incredibly complex, the climate conversation is often restricted to an overly simplistic scope, with a limited number of acceptable perspectives. The ‘acceptable’ worldview can be reduced to this: Climate change is an existential threat, our most important problem, and we can fix it cheaply with solar and wind energy.

El mundo se enfrenta a muchos retos, entre los impactos de la inflación y las altas tasas de interés, los efectos persistentes de la pandemia del COVID o conflictos geopolíticos como la invasión de Rusia a Ucrania. En medio de todo esto, 2023 marca la mitad del plazo para los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), una extensa lista de 169 metas en la que los líderes mundiales han prometido todo a todos.

A világ számos kihívással néz szembe, az infláció és a magas kamatok hatásaitól kezdve a koronavírus-járvány elhúzódó következményein át az olyan geopolitikai konfliktusokig, mint Oroszország ukrajnai inváziója. Mindezek közepette idén elérkeztünk a fenntartható fejlődési célok félidejéhez is (a 2030-ra szóló célkitűzéseket ugyanis 2015-ben fogadták el az ENSZ tagállamai – a szerk.). Ezek a célkitűzések igen sok, összesen 169 vállalást tartalmaznak, miután a világ vezetői mindenkinek mindent megígértek.

Amid all this, 2023 marks the halftime point for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—the sprawling list of 169 ambitions in which all global leaders have promised everything to everyone.
