En ny rapport fra FN har afsløret den foruroligende nyhed, at antallet af katastrofer på verdensplan er femdoblet siden 1970 og vil stige med endnu 40 procent i de kommende årtier. De finder, at flere mennesker påvirkes af katastrofer end nogensinde før, og FNs vicegeneralsekretær advarer om, at menneskeheden er »i en spiral af selvudslettelse.«

El informe constata que más personas están siendo afectadas por desastres y la Vicesecretaria General de Naciones Unidas, Amina J. Mohammed, advierte que la humanidad está «en una espiral de autodestrucción».

Az elmúlt évtizedben a globális elit klímaváltozással kapcsolatos megszállottsága elvonta a figyelmet a világot érintő számos más nagy problémáról – a legdrámaibb módon erre az Ukrajna elleni invázió mutatott rá. A nyugat-európai vezetőknek az elmúlt évtizedben az energiaforrások diverzifikálásával és a palagáz-termelés kiterjesztésével kellett volna törődniük ahelyett, hogy az atomerőművek bezárásával foglalkoztak, illetve ijesztő mértékben függővé váltak Oroszországtól. A kialakult háború azonban távolról sem az egyetlen dolog, amire nem figyeltek eléggé.
