Es wird wärmer – ein bisschen. Na und?

Published by Die Welt

Climate change is real, but we have time

Published by The Sunday Times

2013-09-22 With the first overview in six years from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), it is time to raise two big questions. Why have panic and catastrophe dominated the debate? And why have the solutions presented thus far been so expensive and ineffective? We really need to start talking about what will work.

It’s gone too far

Published by Prospect Magazine

2013-09-18 The precautionary principle used to work. It was set out at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, and stated that complete scientific evidence was not necessarily required in support of action on the most serious environmental threats. Unfortunately, since then, this well-intentioned principle has become a destructive tool, used to support bad policies.

Don’t blame climate change for extreme weather

Published by Washington Post

2013-09-15 One of the most persistent claims in the climate debate is that global warming leads to more extreme weather. Green groups and even such respectable outlets as Scientific American declare that “extreme weather is a product of climate change.”  And the meme seems irresistible as a political shortcut to action.

Global Warming Without Fear

Published by Project Syndicate

2013-09-13 MALMÖ – On September 26, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will present the summary of its most recent assessment report, the fifth in 23 years. Although the IPCC is not perfect – it famously predicted that all Himalayan glaciers would be gone in 2035, when the more likely year is 2350 – its many experts generally give us the best information on the fractious issue of global warming. Because of extensive leaks, the report’s contents are mostly known.

There is no bee crisis

Published by Ottawa Citizen

2013-09-03 Contrary to what you may have heard, there is no “bee-pocalypse.” There is lots of alarmist talk about colony collapse disorder, people are blaming pesticides and talking about hundreds of billions of dollars at risk. But a closer look tells a very different story. Read the article online.

Millioner af døde på den grønne samvittighed

Published by Berlingske

Trashing rice, killing children

Published by National Journal

2013-08-29 Activists have destroyed a field trial of "Golden Rice" in the Philippines. Golden Rice is genetically modified to have vitamin A. Three billion people depend on rice as their staple food, with 10% at risk for vitamin A deficiency. Thus, golden rice could prevent many of the 668,000 child deaths from vitamin A deficiency every year. Over the past 12 years, Greenpeace and others have tried to block Golden Rice in every possible way, even though science shows no adverse effects on health or the environment.

Skräcklarm om miljön leder till dålig politik

Published by Expressen

2013-08-15 Nyligen kunde vi läsa nya överdrifter om miljöproblemen. Detta får politiker att satsa mer pengar på meningslösa miljöprojekt, i stället för på viktig forskning om grön energi. Det skriver Bjørn Lomborg.

The Decline of Renewable Energy

Published by Project Syndicate

2013-08-14 PRAGUE – Many today believe that renewable energy will let us get off fossil fuels soon. Unfortunately, the facts say otherwise. According to International Energy Agency data, 13.12% of the world’s energy came from renewables in 1971, the first year that the IEA reported global statistics. In 2011, renewables’ share was actually lower, at 12.99%. Yet a new survey shows that Americans believe that the share of renewables in 2035 will be 30.2%. In reality, it will likely be 14.5%.
