Don’t Invest in Current Clean Energy, Back Future Technology

New York Times recently interviewed Lomborg (among two dozen scientists, authors, and world and national figures) about two questions: What is your greatest worry about climate change? What gives you hope?

Here's his answer:

Global warming is real and a problem, but we need better, more effective solutions. What troubles me most is that we keep focusing on making old-fashioned promises to cut CO2 [even though] these promises have failed to curb emissions rises for more than 20 years.

As you get more renewables, energy for the consumer becomes costlier.

In Germany, consumers had to subsidize green energy to the tune of 31 billion euros last year. Little surprise, Germans now pay the highest electricity prices in the world.

Bjorn Lomborg was asked if Russian President Putin was benefitting from Europe's green agenda. He explained that because the EU doesn't want coal or fracking, and its biggest economy Germany decided to phase out nuclear power, Europe has become very dependent on Russian gas, because wind and solar cannot provide reliable energy around the clock.
